Capsule Geology

The Sturt Bay occurrence is underlain by massive, recrystallized limestone of the Upper Triassic Quatsino Formation (Vancouver Group) near a small quartz monzonite-granodiorite plug.

In the Sturt Bay quarry, the limestone is medium grained, white to light grey and traversed by numerous small irregular fractures and occasional strong jointing. Quarry production statistics are not available.
